One of the best ways to get your tweets more exposure is by tactful use of superlatives. Instead of just saying something is “good” or “cool”, why not say it’s “epic” or “the best thing since sliced bread and free kittens”? In today’s increasingly crowded social media world, tweets need to be all the more epic in order to stand out from the noise of the internet.
Take this charming little tweet as an example:
The World’s Saddest Owl bzfd.it/Hb7Ldh @dbproductionLtd awwww
— Stephanie Guerra, RD (@simplysg) April 2, 2012
It’s short, it’s simple, and it’s a fantastic use of superlatives to make your tweet an irresistible click-through. When used in combination with some of the other golden rules of the internet, like fuzzy animals, using superlatives can make the difference between a great tweet and an epic tweet. This isn’t just a sad owl, it’s the worlds Saddest owl, and who doesn’t want to see that? I know I need to see what the world’s saddest owl looks like, and I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels this way.
If you have any comments on using the superlative to super-charge tweets, I’d love to hear them. Sound off in the comments and let me know your thoughts.
